Tracy Chapman Receives Her First Academy Of Country Music Awards Nomination

Tracy Chapman has received further recognition for her 1988 hit “Fast Car,” securing her initial nomination at the Academy of Country Music Awards on Tuesday, April 9. This recognition comes as country artist Luke Combs’ rendition of the song garners significant praise.

Chapman’s nomination is in the Song of the Year category, which acknowledges her role as the writer, with Combs credited for his performance.

Luke Combs has received a total of eight nominations, including:

  • Entertainer of the Year,
  • Male Artist of the Year,
  • Album of the Year,
  • Song of the Year,
  • Single of the Year,
  • Music Event of the Year alongside Riley Green for their song “Different ‘Round Here.”

The 59th ACM awards will stream worldwide on Prime Video, live from Ford Center at The Star In Frisco on May 16th, 2024
