    highlight of my life

  2. Hi,

I had the chance to see Tracy perform on two consecutive nights (December 15th / 16th) at the Hammersmith Apollo in West London.

The most striking aspect about the performances was that Tracy has become very outgoing on stage. Maybe i’ts the fact that this is a solo tour, which naturally leads to a more direct encounter with the audience. Whatever the reason, you could feel how comfortable she was sharing with the audience. Not just sharing stories, but lots of humour as well.

She talked about the elections in the US, her upbringing in Cleveland, early street performer experiences (the trip to the New York City Library which saw her and her friends leave empty-handed) and even trivial things such as a recipe for removing static electricity from her dry-cleaned blouse. During the second night, she also mentioned how happy she was to perform in London, for it was here where her career started with the now famous Nelson Mandela concert, together with Sting, Bruce Springsteen, and Peter Gabriel.

Another nice aspect of both concerts was that the audience could fill in request cards which were left at the entrance. Tracy then used these cards to select about half of her songs. The other half was already taken by her “Greatest Hits” collection, such as Behind the Wall, Fast Car, and many others.

Opening act for both nights was James McMorrow from Ireland, who delivered some very soulful folk songs and who kept telling the audience how grateful he was to support Tracy.

    Set List for December 15th:
    – Behind the Wall
    – Baby Can I Hold You
    – Sing For You
    – The Promise
    – Save Us All
    – Mountains O’ Things
    – America
    – Across the Lines
    – Subcity
    – Fast Car
    – House of the Rising Sun
    – Give Me One Reason
    – Talkin’ Bout a Revolution
    – She’s Got Her Ticket

    Encores (both audience requests):
    – Bang Bang Bang
    – Say Hallelujah

    Set List for December 16th:
    – Across the Lines
    – For My Lover
    – Sing For You
    – Change
    – Telling Stories
    – Behind the Wall
    – House of the Rising Sun
    – The Promise (Requested by many)
    – I Did It All
    – Fast Car
    – Proud Mary
    – Mountains O’ Things
    – Give Me One Reason
    – Save Us All
    – Baby Can I Hold You
    – Revolution
    – Stand By Me (Dedicated to her fans supporting her through the years)
    – She’s Got Her Ticket

The last song of her second night was a request by fans who had come all the way from Israel and held a banner in the first row, to which Tracy said that this must be one of the first banners she saw during her shows.

Throughout the years, I had the chance to see Tracy at many different venues, in Europe and the US, but these two concerts are by far the best ones of her I attended. She used to be very shy and almost reclusive on stage, just performing her songs and barely saying more than “Thanks” at the end. Now, this has totally changed and she is creating a connection with the audience like few other artists – not just with her music.

Even though she suffered from a cold during both performances, she gave it her all. After all these years, her voice is still impeccable and the news songs on her latest album demonstrate that her creative voice is equally fresh and radiant.

Whoever has a chance to see her live on this tour – go for it, and you’ll be glad you went.

  3. Tracy live was amazing! The only artist I have gone to see who has not cancelled!! I have waited many years to get the chance to see her live and my gosh it was well worth the wait!! Tracy is an amazing artist, she was so open and connected with the audience in a most beautiful way, sharing some of her enlightening and moving life stories. The atmosphere was like nothing experienced before. Her performance, her voice, live, in person, makes her songs even more exciting and enhancing to listen to!

Tracy, you are an amazing individual and your fans love you for the words you speak, said straight from your heart. Thank you for such an exhilarating performance, you are the best and I am so excited to see your new date announced in London!!

Lots of love, peace and blessings,xx
