Tracy Chapman attends and performs at the 35th Annual Kennedy Center Honors

Each year, artists are honored for their contributions to the arts and American culture at the Kennedy Center Honors, a lifetime achievement awards for performing artists. In 2012, the artists were Dustin Hoffman, David Letterman, Buddy Guy, Natalia Makarova and Robert Plant & Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin. The ceremony consisted in onstage performances from different artists  The President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama also attended the ceremony

To honor Buddy Guy (with whom she sang Ain’t No Sunshine, Tracy Chapman performed “Hound Dog” (immortalized by Thornton and Guy in a classic 1965 London performance) and “Sweet Home Chicago” (with Bonnie Rait and Jeff Beck)..
