[ Press release: Tracy Chapman to play 'Small Places Tour' Concert in Ireland ] Wednesday, October 01, 2008

Here's the official press release for Tracy's commitment to the Amnesty International?s ?Small Places Tour? from SmallPlacesTour.info:

Tracy Chapman will play a special concert as part of Amnesty International?s ?Small Places Tour? on December 10th, International Human Rights Day, in Dublin. Ms Chapman, a multi-platinum and four-time Grammy Award-winning artist, is a long term supporter of Amnesty International and was one of the five artists who toured the world on Amnesty?s groundbreaking ?Human Rights Now!? tour with Bruce Springsteen, Peter Gabriel, Sting and Youssou N?Dour in 1988.
Best known for her singles, "Fast Car", "Talkin' 'bout a Revolution", "Baby Can I Hold You", "Give Me One Reason" "The Promise" and "Telling Stories", the December 10th gig is expected to sell out in record time.

Tickets are on sale now, cost ?50.80 or ?55.80 and are available via www.ticketmaster.ie

?We are very excited about Tracy Chapman?s concert. It will mark the finale of the Small Places Tour in Ireland and we could not imagine a more appropriate artist and human rights activist to bring this unique series of concerts to a close? said Colm O?Gorman Executive Director of Amnesty International in Ireland.

Everyone attending the concert will receive a free copy of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights from Amnesty International and have an opportunity to get active in Amnesty?s campaigns.

Beginning twenty years ago with the release of her eponymous debut, Tracy Chapman has created a body of work that has been as consistently compelling as it is honest and uncompromising, eloquently telling stories with perennial appeal that are at once personal and universal.

Her latest album Our Bright Future will be released on November 11, 2008. Recorded this summer in Los Angeles with Larry Klein (Herbie Hancock, Joni Mitchell, Madeleine Peyroux), the album comprises 11 new songs written by Tracy. Our Bright Future is Tracy's eighth studio album and her first since 2005's acclaimed Where You Live.

[ 7 Seconds @ Paris Bercy, Dec 10, 1998 ] Saturday, December 29, 2007

I remember that day, I remember this specific moment, it was around 2am, I was there since 10am the day before ! We stood in the cold Paris waiting for the opportunity to enter the place, run until the stage so we can enjoy the moment, be there just because we HAD to be there. Tracy's set was awesone (with Andy Stoller on Bass, Steven Hunter on Guitar and Denny Fongheiser on Drums), I haven't seen the band since the New Beginning tour two years before and I was thrilled to attend such an event: Peter Gabriel, Bruce Springsteen, Jimmy Page & Robert Plant, Youssou N'Dour (only Sting was missing from the original 1988 tour), Radiohead, Alanis Morrisette...

Rumors say that Peter Gabriel is organising the celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights on December 10, 2008. I hope that Tracy will be there, and if it's in Paris again, then it would be just perfect! It's not excluded I take a flight to attend the event, no matter where it is!!
