Walk w/ Tracy Chapman to support A Better Chance in New York on May 9, 2010

Tracy will be participating in the Live Your Best Life Walk sponsored by O’, The Oprah Magazine, benefitting 10 charities. She has been chosen to be the spokesperson for “A Better Chance” (ABC) an organization devoted to creating educational opportunities for young people of color. Tracy herself is an alumna of “ABC” (Wooster School, ‘82) and she invites you to join her on the walk and help support “A Better Chance”.

A Better Chance is proud to announce that it is one of ten nonprofit organizations chosen to be a beneficiary of O, The Oprah Magazine’s “Live Your Best Life” Walk on Sunday May 9, 2010. This walk will be the culmination of a 3-day event in New York City celebrating O’s tenth anniversary. Alumna Tracy Chapman (Wooster School, ’82), Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter, will act as A Better Chance’s spokesperson for the weekend.

Leading up to the Walk, 6,000 attendees will enjoy celebratory events including a Friday Night Welcome Reception, Saturday LifeShops at Javits Convention Center and Saturday Evening with Oprah Winfrey at Radio City Music Hall. Thousands more will join the Walk with Oprah on Sunday May 9th.

Tracy Chapman, A Better Chance Alumna and Celebrity Spokesperson for A Better Chance will reward the top fundraiser for A Better Chance with a brand new guitar! The top overall fundraiser, as well as the top Alumni and Scholar fundraisers will also have the opportunity to walk alongside Tracy at the Walk.

In addition, anyone who registers and raises at least $200 will be eligible to win lunch with editor at large of O, The Oprah Magazine, Gayle King. Afterwards, she’ll take you on a tour of the magazine’s editorial offices. One lucky winner at random will be selected from everyone who registers for the Live Your Best Life Walk and raises $200 or more by May 7th.

Walk registration is $30 plus tax and service charge. (This price is included if you register for the whole weekend.). When registering, you will have (3) choices of how to get involved:

• Walk with Oprah and Fundraise: We invite you to sign up to walk with Oprah and thousands of others, as well as to select one of ten charities to fundraise for over the next few weeks. Top 10 Fundraisers will lead the Walk with Oprah!
• Walk with Oprah Only: We invite you to walk with Oprah and thousands of others in New York City
